Sparkle and Shine (Focus on Glitz Embellishments)

18 July 2014

Today I have post up on the Glitz Design blog all about embellishing with Glitz products. For this layout I wanted to keep it simple but still have lots of little details to look at without distracting from the photo.

Three of my four children are following music lessons and the two eldest are learning to play the trumpet. NoĆ© has a really good ear and can play lots of tunes on the piano. I didn't have to tell him he just plays away. I love seeing their passion for music grow.

The first series of embellishments I used where the stickers from the Felicity set which I layered with some Black&White Whatnots and puffy stickers.

I also love using patterned paper to create my own simple embellishments. I cut out a small butterfly from the Brightside Butterfly paper. The designs on patterned paper are a great source of embellishment inspiration.
Another way to embellishment is by using punches. Punching out shapes and using the negative space creates detail and adds depth.

The new glitter tapes are also a fun product that add texture to a project. I love these tapes and they tear so well just like washi tape.

Little staples and tags from my stash add the finishing touch and also a spot for some hidden journalling.

I hope you have some new embellishing ideas and wish you a fantastic Friday.

Bubbles

17 July 2014

It is the simplest of toys and my youngest just LOVES it. Blowing bubbles. Even I get a blast out of it. It is getting harder and harder to get pictures of my boys. They are so energetic that sometimes I can't even follow them and they don't always like me running after them with the camera. I managed to get a couple of shots of Elouan. I picked out of couple of American Crafts Dear Lizzy products and punched out circles from some Crate Paper vellum. I pretty easy layout but such fun to create.

1 Girl

15 July 2014

In our household there is only one girl and I am that girl. When we decided to have children, my husband and I always said "we want a family" and each time I got pregnant the only thing which really mattered was that our child was healthy. I never longed to have a boy or a girl and just wanted to have a child. A lot of people ask me if I'm not sad that I don't have a daughter or if we are trying for a girl. And each and every time I try to explain that it isn't something I miss. They don't really understand.
That being said I do sometimes miss going shopping with or talking to "girls" but that has nothing to do with the fact that I don't have a daughter but that most of my "girl"friends live far away and that when you are a mother and you have a job, you don't have much time for a girl's night out. So I do miss those things but I find ways to fulfil that need. I go on shopping sprees by myself and take time to put on make-up in the morning.  I am blessed to have a beautiful and healthy family and that is all I need.

Here is the layout I created which sums it all up. I used my June Studio Calico kit and some other bits and bobs I had lying around.

Those canvas butterflies are from an older Studio Calico kit. I have been hoarding them for ages and still love them. I coloured them with gelatos.
